Restaurants & Bars |
Last updated: 14 Jan 2008 |
Siem Reap is only a small town but, because of the Ancient City of Angkor, it attracts over one million visitors every year. As Siem Reap receives more visitors, then the need for restaurants and bars increases, which many developers have recognised. New restaurants are opening up everywhere providing food from every corner of the world with Khmer, French, Chinese, Italian, Thai, and Indian restaurants being the most popular. There are no well known fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King and KFC in Siem Reap or anywhere else in Cambodia, but you will find other types of fast food outlets serving burgers, hot dogs and French fries in both Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.
Places to eat for under US$5
In Siem Reap you can eat for less than US$1 at one of the street vendors at the side of the road, which is quite popular with backpackers and budget travellers. If you spend a just a bit more, from US$2 to US$3, then you can eat in one of the many Khmer restaurants which serve some tasty food. If you want to eat Western food or other Asian foods, then expect to pay at least US$3 in most restaurants. French, Thai, Indian, Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Burmese, Malaysian, fish and BBQ restaurants are all available in this price range.
