Siem Reap is best known for the ancient city of Angkor, which was built by the Khmer Empire over 1,000 years ago. Since Siem Reap is receiving more tourists every year, the development of the area continues with more hotels, guesthouses, villas, apartments, restaurants, bars and many other attractions springing up all over town.

Are you looking for things to see and do in Siem Reap?

The Angkor Temples are the main reason people visit Siem Reap, so if you want to plan your itinerary for your visit to Angkor then you can start by using our Angkor Temples section. Here you will find information about admission and entrance fees plus times when you can buy your entry ticket. You can also read about Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, Banteay Srey, Angkor Thom, Bayon and many other Angkor temples.

Once you have had enough of the temples, then there are other attractions such as shopping at the Old Market, Central Market, Psar Chas or the night market. As well as visiting the markets you could also visit the Silk Farm, Crocodile Farm, Land Mine Museum, War Museum and Cambodian Cultural Village. One of the places on many people's lists is Tonle Sap, when you can go to one of the floating villages, with Chong Kneas being the most popular. If, after all that walking around, you fancy some relaxation then check out the Leisure Activities section. Here you can find out about Traditional Khmer Massages, Apsara Dancing, Cookery classes, Swimming pools, gyms, Elephant rides to Bayon, balloon rides over Angkor, golf and you can even try the new Quad bikes, which are available in town for a drive around the countryside.

Getting around Siem Reap is easy and getting from your hotel or guesthouse to the Old Market or Pub Street is pretty easy whereever you are staying in Siem Reap. Tuk Tuks around Siem Reap are plentiful and there will always be a driver looking for you, so you do not need to wait long for transport around town. Moto dups (motor bike taxis) are on every corner and are ideal for a short trip into town or if you prefer air conditioned travel then we suggest hiring a taxi or mini bus. Siem Reap’s nightlife is starting to develop a lot now, so if you are looking for a nice restaurant then you have a wide selection to choose from including Khmer, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, fish and steak restaurants. There are also buffet style restaurants where you can see an Apsara dancing show at the same time. As for the bars, there are quite a number in town now, especially around the Pub Street and Old Market areas. If you fancy a late drink and a dance, then there are a number of nightclubs in town.
